Church kneelers at
The Queen’s Chapel of the Savoy
London City
Two church kneelers here are by Guy Barton, one of the great ecclesiastical canvaswork designers of the twentieth century.
One of them bears a label on its base recording that it was stitched by Sir John Warwick in 1959. This was when Guy Barton was still the Art Master at Marlborough College and before his magnificent sequence of work at Lancaster Priory.
The third kneeler, with stylised crowns and lions, may not be by Guy Barton.
