Church kneelers are stacked on trolleys so that those who wish to kneel during a service are able to help themselves. This is in happy contrast to those ruthlessly modern institutions that have declared kneelers redundant and disposed of them.
Sylvia Green, the talented designer of kneelers at St Michael’s, Highgate in London and at All Saints, Newlands – the Cathedral of the Forest – in Gloucestershire, was responsible for many of the Chichester kneelers.
