Church kneelers at
St Michaels
Berwick, Sussex
The altar rail kneeler, designed by Cressida Bell and stitched by Jane Lloyd, picks out motifs from the painted panels on the pulpit. The final image, unfortunately constrained by the website’s template to be shown horizontally not vertically, shows one of the panels. The wall paintings here by Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Quentin Bell were commissioned by Bishop Bell during the Second World War.
