Church kneelers record a graffito on the wall which show the quarrel between Simon and Nellie over their last piece of dough. Their quarrel was finally resolved through the compromise now known as Simnel Cake – SIMon, NELlie.
They also include a prayer to which we would all subscribe, mounted on the wall of the town almshouses.
