Church kneelers at

All Saints

Monk Sherborne, Hampshire

Church kneelers in this church dedicated to All Saints has kneelers celebrating saints both well-known and less-known.  The evangelists’ kneelers carry the saint’s name. Other kneelers expect you to recognise the emblems.  St Basil has a cathedral. St David’s preaching was assisted not just by the Holy Spirit but also, practically, by a hill that conveniently rose beneath him.  St Edmund, the East Anglian king slain by Vikings, has a crown pierced by arrows.  St Brigid of Kildare has a lamp burning within a wreath of oak leaves and acorns.  St Francis de Sales has a haloed heart within  a golden frame.  St Swithin shows raindrops but also the fruits that the summer suns have ripened.

There is a fine bumblebee on the second page.
