Church kneelers at

St Mary Magdalene

Woodstock, Oxfordshire

The catalogue of church kneelers here begins with the emblem – pot and tears – of the Patron saint, St Mary Magdalene, and is followed by images from the Book of Kells.

The seventh kneeler shown represents the void and chaos that preceded the Creation which follows in subsequent kneelers.

Images of Woodstock include Winston Churchill and a copy of his Garter badge.

The third and fourth pages recall military, naval and air-service colleagues and the contribution made by ARP Wardens, the Home Guard and the ATS.  Naval kneelers were stitched by a veteran of the Submarines.
